As the world celebrated the day of love on February 14, our hearts were shattered with the news of a terrorist attack on a convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans. The attack that happened in the Pulwama district of Kashmir killed 44 soldiers, plunging the nation into mourning.
As a mark of protest and a sign of mourning, Marathi newspaper Lokmat changed its masthead for its February 15 edition, from red to black. Commenting on the initiative, Vijay Baviskar, Group Editor, Lokmat Media Group, said, “Lokmat came out with a black masthead on February 15 across the Maharashtra, New Delhi and Goa editions. This initiative is taken to protest, mourn and pay condolence to the sacrifice of 44 CRPF jawans in Kashmir and our support with the families of the brave martyrs.”
