Godrej LOCKSS launches Mobile Experience Centre, designed in collaboration with Dilip Chhabria, to highlight design-led innovations and locks of the future
Imagine walking into a plush and ultra-modern bus – designed by Dilip Chhabria of DC Design fame, no less – but instead of swoosh seats, finding only intricately designed locks! As the on-boarders of the bus latched on to the colourful and innovative locks, Godrej Locking Systems and Solutions (Godrej LOCKSS), successfully launched its advanced Mobile Experience Centre (MEC-3) to highlight how design-led innovation has been shaping the future of the locking solutions market.
MEC-3, third in the series of mobile experience centres launched by Godrej LOCKSS, aims to take the style quotient of locking solutions a notch higher in collaboration with design expert Dilip Chhabria. MEC-3 offers an experience of touch and feel of the entire array of solutions designed for key influencers of the market including architects, interior designers and contractors. It houses samples of both residential and commercial locks, including electronic ‘smart locks’, upcoming products, as well as a slew of customized locks manufactured for industry-specific applications. The initiative is part of Godrej LOCKSS’s effort to change the perspective about locks, which have been regarded as functional products.

The Indian locking solutions market is estimated to be worth Rs 4,200 crore. Today, almost 80% of the purchase decisions are made by the key influencer, rather than the end-customer; and MEC-3 is actually reaches out to key influencers and gives them an experiential tour of how Godrej locks complement the overall appeal of the home. MEC-3 is all set to make a multicity tour across India, including metro cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Raipur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi and Vizag.
