CREATIVITY IS AT ITS PEAK IN THE RUN-UP TO GOAFEST 2012, SET TO UNFOLD AT THE ZURI WHITE SANDS RESORT IN SOUTH GOA FROM APRIL 19. WE SHOWCASE SOME OF THE BEST CREATIVES PUT FORWARD BY THE TOP AGENCIES THAT ARE SURE TO BE AMONG THE GOLDS, SILVERS AND BRONZES AT GOAFEST
With a total of 4,253 entries vying for Creative Abbys and 627 for Media Abbys, Goafest 2012 will see agencies fiercely fighting it out at the Zuri White Sands resort in South Goa. later this week. Joining the party this time will be delegates from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal who will also be competing for the awards with their work on Creative and Media. According to industry sources, the Abbys this year have seen the largest number of entries in both the Creative and Media categories. At least 130 agencies and 37 production houses have participated for the Creative Abbys this year.
There is more participation from specialist agencies this year because of the introduction of Grand Prix awards in new verticals. The Abbys this year will have a provision for a Grand Prix award in all the nine verticals including for the first time Out of Home, Ambient, Design, Interactive Digital Advertising, Direct, and Integrated Advertising. Last year, Grand Prix were given only in the Film, Print and Radio verticals.
We at IMPACT have endeavoured to bring you some of the top creative work that you will see contending for the metals at Goafest 2012. We asked the top agencies to send five of their best works that they thought were top contenders at the Abbys this year. We did manage to get inputs from JWT, Ogilvy Delhi, Contract Advertising, Grey, Draft FCB Ulka, BBDO India, Bates 141, etc., along with a few creative hotshops like Taproot, Creativeland Asia and Happy Creative Services. However, despite our persistent efforts, we could not get the overall entries of Ogilvy India. That is the reason why you will miss the Vodafone 3G ZooZoo campaign and the Cadbury TVCs here. Unfortunately, all the National Creative Directors of Ogilvy were travelling and were not available to shortlist the entries to be published. We could also not get entries from some agencies such as Publicis, DDB Mudra, M&C Saatchi, Leo Burnett and TBWA as the teams have either been very busy in the run-up to Goafest, or were travelling or unable to meet our production deadline. For instance, the entire Rediffusion team was at an offsite.
In the process of compiling these creatives, we also got to know about the agencies that are not going to be part of the Abbys this year. Lowe Lintas and Law & Kenneth do not participate in these awards, but the surprise absentees this time are going to be McCann Worldgroup, Dentsu and Euro RSCG.
With less than a week to go for the Goafest, we hope you enjoy this veritable feast of creatives which no doubt will open your mind to a lot more ‘magic of ideas’ at Goa.
