There is no secret device or special recipe that ensures success. However, if there is a will and perseverance to achieve goals, one can surely go places and achieve what one wishes. Success is directly proportional to hard work and the effort invested.
My journey towards achieving my goals has been very rewarding and interesting. After many ups and downs, challenges faced and problems fixed, I stand tall with my achievements today. After completing my strategic management course from London School of Economics, I gained some experience in my family business which was diversified in various industries such as minerals, chemicals, stone-crushers, real estate and logistics. I learnt management and studying market trends.
Then I surmised that the current market conditions in India would be great for any entrepreneur, and this inspired me to promote the concept of barter. My interest in Digital and technology helped me crystallize the concept further. The journey has not been easy, with strikes, shortage of labour and manpower, policy changes, corruption and economic slowdowns rearing their head at different points.
Given a choice to restart my career, I wouldn’t do anything different. I am extremely happy with the way my professional choices juxtaposed with my personal preferences and passions. What I am today is a result of multiple factors and the whole constellation is just what the astronomer ordered.
What led me to start this journey in the e-commerce world was my inspiration from leaders who rule the world of business and have built their empire on the basis of intellect and sheer hard work. As they rightly say, destiny plays an important role in the journey to success, but these leaders have made me believe that the best way to predict your future is to create it.
Success without principles is a myth .Some milestones that I followed through the journey are:
Your quest should only be for your goal: In this competitive era, the quest for greatness in one area has taken a backseat to the concept of universal genius, or the ability to accomplish greatness in many areas. While a nice notion, this quest for universal genius is one that is destined to fail. As they rightly say, Jack of all trades, master of none.
Never give up: The vast majority of successful people were also huge failures at some point in their lives: Walt Disney went bankrupt, Benjamin Franklin dropped out of school at age 10. Success comes from hard work, resilience and determination. There is no shortcut.
Work towards meaningful goals: Most people focus on efficiency, which leads them to work towards goals that are meaningless, empty or simply unimportant. Effectiveness and efficiency are mutually exclusive. Sending out e-mails may be efficient, but it's only effective if those e-mails are going to help you reach your goal.
I always knew that I wanted to work for myself: I had to do it .It was an overwhelming, deep sense of how I wanted to live my life, even before I really knew what career path I would take.
Think of your most recent effort that fell flat. What can it tell you? How can you use it to pivot to a new goal, or move you closer to the original? Consider ways to shift your workplace, or your personal life, to allow for more play. What are you interested in, without being an expert? Let yourself explore it fearlessly.
