As a female leader in a male-dominated sector, I have always felt a sense of duty towards carrying forward my family’s legacy. My father, Mr Irfan Razack along with his brother Mr. Rezwan Razack, built the Prestige Group and shaped it to be one of the nation’s most renowned real estate brands.
Fondly known as the ‘son of the family’, my parents have always encouraged me to be more than the labels society would assign to me. In the age of empathetic leadership, female leaders are paving the way for a brighter future for girls all over the world, by leveraging our inherent instinctual drivers to communicate, nurture, support, create and protect. A testament to this inherent superpower, my first foray into the corporate world, and my family’s legacy was to establish the Prestige Group Department of Corporate Communications, to instil a sense of community amongst our family of over 3000+ employees and stakeholders.
Leveraging my experience and learnings along with my father’s endeavour and belief in transparency, I began spearheading the communications and outreach of the family business. For clients and stakeholders in India and abroad, I established ‘Falcon News,’ a four-page quarterly newsletter that subsequently became a magazine. Falcon News today is sought after by leading brands for an opportunity to advertise in. Followed by “The Luxury Collection,” a high-end lifestyle publication for international HNIs, serving as its Editor.
While upholding the family legacy has always been my priority, I had always dreamed of following in my father’s footsteps and creating something of my own. In 2009, I began my entrepreneurial journey with Sublime, eventually establishing four distinct creative divisions under its umbrella - Sublime Galleria, Sublime House of Tea, Sublime Media House, and Sublime’s Teaching for Artistic Innovation. Through Sublime, I have aimed at giving aspiring artist talents a platform that not many other galleries do. From supporting our nation’s budding artistic movement to carrying out the operations of UB City, South India’s only luxury shopping centre, my professional journey has been a challenging but fulfilling adventure.
If there is one piece of advice I would give to the thousands of little girls who dream of the things I once dreamed of, it would be to never stop trying. Hold your passions close to your heart, and have faith in your potential to make your dreams come true.
