After a nationwide event, delegation led by Sanjay Gupta, Editor and CEO of Jagran Group, hands over ‘Trail of Wishes’, a collection of good luck messages for the Indian team participating at the London Olympics, 2012 to Sports Minister Ajay Maken

From July 12 to 15, a multitude of people took time out from their busy lives and came out to wish the Indian team good luck for the London Olympics, 2012. This was thanks to a Jagran Group initiative in nine states, namely Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhatisgarh, providing people a platform to send their wishes to Olympians.

The Jagran Group had organized ‘Fortune Plus presents Go For Gold India’, a four-day ground event in 21 cities. In each city, ‘walls of wishes’ (flex panels) were placed at prominent locations, where people reached to write their messages for the players. Mobile vans were also used in some cities to reach out to schools, colleges and offices to collect messages. To ensure mega participation, a host of integrated marketing communication platforms like Print, Radio, Outdoor, Online and Mobile were used. Jagran Group publications such as Dainik Jagran, Naidunia, i.next, City Plus and Punjabi Jagran carried a series of advertisements and edit coverage to maximize response from readers. Similarly, Radio Mantra, Jagran.com, J9 and Jagran Engage outdoor wing generated high recall and participation.

More than one lakh people in India participated in the event across 75 designated event venues. Among them were ex-Olympians, international players, actors, top officials, politicians and professionals who came forward to wish the Olympic team. The best messages received from the people were compiled in a photo book titled ‘Trail of Wishes’, which was then presented to Sports Minister Ajay Maken by Sanjay Gupta, Editor and CEO of the Jagran Group. Maken is carrying the good luck message book to London with him and sharing it with members of the Indian contingent, to encourage them to aim for medals.

The Adani Wilmar Group, Fortune Plus was the main sponsor of the event. It was a perfect brand fit for Fortune Plus, as its brand ambassador Saina Nehwal is one of India’s greatest hopes for the Olympics.
